ABSTRACT CITYSCAPES

I started out as an abstract painter and continue to create abstracts every so often. Working abstractly allows me to experiment with new ideas and techniques and I often use abstracts as a bridge when developing a new series of work. Creating abstract paintings is very freeing and I always learn something new that I can apply to my other work. With this particular series, I'm working to bring in recognizable city elements into the composition and improvise with colors and shapes. The results are fragmented disconnections - things are in disarray, out of order, upside down, and disconnected in places.
